During the R&D phase of an electronic component project, the customer was working with lab-level samples that varied in size and layout.
These inconsistencies made accurate and repeatable inspections difficult.
Additionally, the number and position of contact pads changed depending on the prototype, so the customer needed a highly adaptable fixture that could keep up with evolving test requirements.
Our Solution
Seiken proposed a custom hand press machine equipped with an XYθ fine-adjustment stage, designed specifically for precision alignment and modular testing:
- The adjustment table allows for precise control in the X, Y, and rotational (θ) directions, ensuring accurate contact with even irregular or shifting sample layouts.
- We created custom probe boards tailored to the outer shape and contact pad positions of each sample.
- The probe boards were made easily swappable, enabling the user to quickly adapt the system to different samples or test configurations.
This modular design provided the flexibility and accuracy required for early-stage product development and fine-tuned evaluation.
