Kelvin

Discrete Component Inspection Fixture

Customer Challenges / Request

A customer needed to perform high-precision 4-terminal (Kelvin) resistance measurements on extremely small electronic components.
Standard probes were either too large or not precise enough, making accurate measurements difficult and unreliable.

Our Solution

Seiken developed a custom Kelvin probe fixture specifically designed to handle micro-scale components.

Results & Benefits

We successfully enabled reliable Kelvin measurements on extremely small pads, small as 0.3 × 0.3 mm.
By carefully designing the probe tip shape, we were also able to select the thickest possible probe compatible with the small target area.
As a result, the fixture offered superior performance in terms of contact force and current-carrying capacity.

Application

Ideal for inspecting compact components such as inductors and capacitors.
This fixture enables repeatable, precise testing of components with tight pad spacing, which is essential for today’s high-density electronics.
